Arte’s editorial staff chose Valerio Nicolai among the 20 under 40 Italian artists that will take part to the 2016 edition of Premio Cairo.

The prize will be hosted in the historic rooms of Palazzo Reale in Milano, where on Wednesday November 9 the jury, presided over by Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (president of Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo) and composed by Luca Massimo Barbero (director at Istituto di Storia dell’Arte della Fondazione Cini, Venezia), Luca Beatrice (art critic), Gabriella Belli (director of Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia), Claudia Dwek (Chairman Contemporary Art Europe, Deputy-Chairman of Sotheby’s Europe and Co-Chairman of Sotheby’s Italia), Gianfranco Maraniello (director of MART, Rovereto) e Andrea Viliani (director of MADRE, Napoli) will declare the winner.

Other participating artists: Giulia Andreani, Filippo Armellin, Paolo Bini, 108 (Guido Bisagni), Manuele Cerutti, Marco De Sanctis, Gabriele De Santis, Stefania Fersini, Anna Franceschini, Andrea Kvas, Chiara Lecca, Davide Monaldi, Pennacchio Argentato, Quayola, Giovanni Sartori Braido, Giorgio Silvestrini, Francesco Surdi, Alice Schivardi, Tindar.

The artworks, especially created in occasion of the prize, will be presented in a big exhibition open to the public from November 10 to November 13 at Palazzo Reale.
